Equinox Navigate 2026 Elevates Indonesian Seafarers for the Global Maritime Industry

Indonesia has long been recognized as one of the world's largest suppliers of seafarers. However, as the global shipping industry undergoes rapid transformation, the demand has shifted from quantity to quality. Technological advancements, digitalization, increasingly stringent safety standards, and the transition toward sustainable shipping require maritime professionals who possess world-class competencies and are prepared to operate in a highly competitive international environment.
With this vision, PT Equinox Bahari Utama, part of the Equinox Shipping Group, organized Equinox Navigate 2026 – Indonesian Seafarer Conference on 30 June 2026. Under the theme Sea of Change: From Quantity to Global Quality, the conference brought together government representatives, professional organizations, shipping companies, international ship managers, global principals, maritime academicians, industry experts, and hundreds of Indonesian seafarers to discuss the future direction of Indonesia's maritime human capital development.

Speaking during the conference, Ir. Samsuddin, MT, MMarE, IPM, Director of Ship Registration and Seafarers at the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, expressed his appreciation for Equinox Bahari Utama's commitment to continuous competency development.

Representing the industry perspective, Capt. Syafiq Bahsein, MNI, MTr, Head of Vetting at Pertamina International Shipping, delivered a presentation titled Maritime Safety and Sustainability as Pillars of National Energy Resilience.

Capt. Fandi Andi Syaripuddin, MM, M.Mar, General Manager of PT Equinox Bahari Utama, stated that Indonesia's greatest challenge today is no longer producing more seafarers, but producing seafarers who consistently meet international standards.
Strengthening Indonesia's Position in the Global Maritime Workforce
As part of its long-term strategy, PT Equinox Bahari Utama introduced the New EBU Direction, a transformation initiative focused on enhancing the quality of Indonesia's maritime workforce while strengthening Equinox's position as a trusted provider of Indonesian seafarers for the global shipping industry.
